We’ve shown you ours…now show us yours! We’re looking for new designs for our next series of condoms, and we want your help in our art competition.

Winning designs receive a cash prize, a donation of condoms in your name and a year’s supply of condoms featuring your own design!

Contestant Eligibility:

Anyone who is not a design professional may enter the Open Division – including art students and talented art enthusiasts who design in their spare time.

Design Eligibility:

Now, there are more chances to enter. Every two months, we’ll kick off a new round of submitting and voting. Contestants may submit up to three designs in each round leading up to the finals.

To be included in the contest, each design must:

  • Be appropriate for all audiences. Designs that are offensive or X-Rated will not be included. We appreciate all forms of art, but remember these products will be sold in drugstores and supermarkets.
  • Be original. Designs that violate copyrights or trademarks will not be included.

How to Enter:

  1. Create a striking design. Your original image can be a drawing, photo, or design. Be bold. Be creative. Show us what you’ve got!
  2. Upload your design at ONECondoms.com. Images should be at least 250 x 250 pixels. You’ll be able to include your ONE liner, using our online editing tool. Images not formatted correctly with our online editing tool will not be considered for judging and on-line voting.

Submission Dates:

See below for a schedule of submission and voting rounds. During each two-month period, artists are submitting new designs, and the public is voting on designs submitted during the previous round. Contestants may enter as many rounds as you’d like, with no more than three submissions per round.

How Winners are Selected:

In each round, the public will vote on designs, and the 10 designs with the highest ranking will advance to the finals. At the end of the preliminary rounds, the 50 finalists will compete through on-line voting and review by a panel of judges. Who: Luba Lukova
http://www.lukova.net
When: Wednesday, April 4, 2012. 6:30 pm
Location: Stage Two, 618 S. Michigan Ave., 2nd Floor

Social consciousness has long been part of the vocabulary of New York designer Luba Lukova. Through student workshops and a public lecture, Lukova will discuss the influences and process that inspired 12 poster series Social Justice 2008. Her career-long focus on issues such as peace, censorship, immigration, ecology, hunger and corruption is merged with the history of visual communication.  As Lukova states  “This project is my cry for action. We have to change things for the good of the entire world, not only for America,” says Lukova. “I was inspired by the desire for change in our society, by the enormous activity of the people and their will to make a difference.”

We’re looking for creative thinkers to image entirely new products inspired by the Porsche 911′s iconic design, engineering artistry and racing heritage.

There are thousands of design details that go into creating a Porsche. Each builds upon the rest, creating the car’s essence. How might those details translate into the design of something totally different? Could you take the curve of a tail light or the stitching on a seat or the typeface on a speedometer to create a brand new thing that embodies what Porsche is, but in an entirely new outlet?

Porsche and Co.Design are asking you to tackle the challenge. We’re hoping you’ll wow us with your intelligence, passion, and vision, whether what you design turns out to be a micro home or a round-the-world travel kit–so we’re leaving the particulars up to you. But your design should follow three simple guidelines:

  • Your design has to be smaller than a living room but no smaller than a wallet.
  • It can’t be a car.
  • It must have three design details that echo three other details from a Porsche design. These might be taken from the exterior or the interior of the car; they can be taken from Porsches of any era.

We <3 Helvetica

Posted by: Kayce Bayer on: February 29, 2012

Denise’s Typography class hosted a lil’ Helvetica party in their room the day after Valentine’s Day.  Students and faculty shared some “helvetica goodness”–info, examples, and praise for the Typeface–and ate delicious homemade cookies (some specially crafted for the occasion).  There were also Type games to play, to test your knowledge of typefaces and kerning.  Try them out on your own.  Watch out, though, the kerning game is addictive!

Deep Font Challenge: http://www.deep.co.uk/games/font_game/

Here are a few photos of the event:
